Call for 2012 Proposals for the 7th Annual A World Beyond Capitalism Conference

PLEASE FORWARD WIDELY

Dear friends,

On July 23rd, 2011 in Seattle, Washington an Indigenous Opening Ceremony was performed to open the A World Beyond Capitalism Conference (AWBC) and the international, multicultural networking effort needed to make it happen.

The 2012 Seventh Annual International A World Beyond Capitalism (AWBC) will include the exponentially increased vision, outreach and multicultural networking which spans 7 months (Feb 2012- through August 2012)  of dozens of gift economy women from all over the world giving workshops through interactive video teleconferences, in person conferences and pre-recorded conference that will be made available as DVD and free of charge downloadable video files for cable television, theater, home and organization viewing worldwide.  Presentations at the AWBC conference will last 7 months as we transition into a year round Africa Needs Free Justice school.

We are currently looking to add women wh
o desire to give workshops or presentations about the Gift Economy and all related topics of encouragement and empowerment.

Our desire is to integrate messages of encouragement, empowerment in an exciting way that encourages viewers to share it around the world and encourage movements at the grassroots level.  We request is that you please decline this offer to make a presentation if you are an administrative/executive part of a multinational corporation or if you are a politician (this includes a politician with the democrats, republicans, green party or any other politician's party).  This is done in order to maintain our educational independence.

How to Submit a proposal:

#1.  Visit http://www.aworldbeyondcapitalism.org and click on "contact us."

Frequently Asked Questions:

#1.  Do I have to live in a certain area and will I have to travel far to give a workshop or presentation at the conference?

Answer:  No.  We plan to make presentations and workshops available to people worldwide through interactive video teleconferences (broadcasted from your home computer), or in person conferences (if you desire to travel) and pre-recorded conferences (advance videotaping of you making a presentation from a location near you).  You can live anywhere and give a workshop.

#2.  Are men invited to give a presentation?

Answer:  Not at this time.  The Annual International A World Beyond Capitalism has welcomed all genders to give presentations for 6 years of our conference.  However, for the initial stages of the 2012 Seventh Annual International A World Beyond Capitalism, we are only accepting proposals from self-identified women (which includes transgender women) at this time.  We plan to make presentations and workshops available to people worldwide through interactive video teleconferences (broadcasted from your home computer), or in person conferences (if you desire to travel) and pre-recorded conferences (videotaping presenters making a presentation from a location near you).

#3.  What is the expected audience outreach of the conference?

Answer:  Our goal is to reach out to a minimum of 200,000 audience members and viewers worldwide in the year 2012 through interactive
video teleconferences, in person conferences and pre-recorded conferences that will be made available as DVD and free of charge downloadable video files for cable television, theater, home and organization use.  We will also send any film series 'summary' videos to film festivals around the country and also to Free Speech TV. Free Speech TV reaches 30 million U.S. homes, broadcasting full-time on DISH Network (channel 9415) and part-time on 200 community cable affiliates.  They have aired many progressive and gift economy events in the past.

Now more than ever there is a need for the world to learn about a lifestyle beyond patriarchy that empowers women, marginalized people and encourages a world of equality that does not rely upon money.
#4.  Will I need to have experience as a speaker or as a workshop presenter?

Answer:  No, not all all.  We have structured this conference so that it welcome presenters of all experience levels.

#5.  When will my workshop or presentation appear on the A World Beyond Capitalism website?

Answer:  Immediately after it is accepted which is as little as 3 days sometimes.  Presentations and workshops that have been accepted can be found by v
isiting http://www.aworldbeyondcapitalism.org and clicking on "2012 Conference Schedule."

Thank you,
Love for the people,

Organizing Collective of the 2012 Seventh Annual International A World Beyond Capitalism Conference,

"...remember that if the struggle were to resort to violence, it will lose vision, beauty and imagination. Most dangerous of all, it will marginalize and eventually victimize women. And a political struggle that does not have women at the heart of it, above it, below it and within it is no struggle at all."

#1. Submit a proposal with your name, workshop title, workshop description and a small paragraph about yourself. If you have an online video, we will also place short online video descriptions on our website as well.

#2. We also welcome 'symposiums.'  The Word 'Symposium' has come to refer to any educational conference, or a style of educational style characterized by an openly discursive format, rather than a lecture and question–answer format.  Please feel free to reate a symposium topic or choose 10-20 titles of topics from our list of over 400 symposium topics found here:

#4. In the event that you cannot attend, we would be happy to accept a 10 minute video workshop from you to add to our series.  It might help bring greater publicity to your project.  We simply ask that you please use professional audio recording equipment and High Definition video as we have discovered that many media outlets that we will send the films strictly require it. We will send the video to film festivals around the country and also to Free Speech TV.  Free Speech TV reaches 30 million U.S. homes, broadcasting full-time on DISH Network (channel 9415) and part-time on 200 community cable affiliates.

It started in 2005 as a 3 day event in one city and has grown every year.  In 2011 it will run from July 2011 through August 2011 for a total of 33 days spanning three cities: Seattle, Washington, Olympia, Washington and Portland Oregon.  We plan to videotape 10 minute segments from a large number of workshops, social justice musicians and hands-on-action camps this year to create several full length, 2 hour documentaries of the conference.

The Sixth Annual International A World Beyond Capitalism Conference, 'Africa Needs Free Justice' conference provides free admission and free food.

We would be happy to provide you with housing with one of our volunteers while you are here.
